A staple in every closet every woman should have in their closet is the essential t-shirt. This is a piece you will actually wear, so invest in quality over quantity. A white tee is a classic and versatile. There are so many ways you can wear it- with trousers, jeans, skirt, suit, etc. You can dress it up or down.
When buying a white t-shirt for your portrait sessions look for 100% cotton or a blend of cotton. You don’t want that cheap white t-shirt that is stretchy like polyester. It won’t be comfortable and most definitely not breathable like the cotton natural fiber.
Since you are investing in your brand, don’t buy a cheap Target white t-shirt. Invest in a quality t-shirt, especially if you are representing your brand.
Finding the right t-shirt means finding a shirt that is not too tight, too short, too long, or too loose.
You want to look put together during your portrait session and when wearing your white t-shirt out to business events.
You can pair it well with trousers like the photos below, pair it great with jeans, a skirt and even a suit.
When shopping for a white t-shirt make sure the cuff sits at mid bicep, and it is not too low from the neck line. A badly made V-neck can hang very low and look unprofessional.
Some of my favorite brands for t-shirts are L’Agence, Theory, and ATM. I have them in all these brands! They’ve all held up nicely over the years. Keep in mind that fabric care is also important. We may be too busy as CEOs or business owners, but the sooner you can remove stains off of these, the longer they will last.
One thing that does take some time is dry time for me. I generally don’t dry mine in the dryer. I hang dry mine. This is a personal preference. If you invest a good amount on these, you may want to try this method.
I try to be conscious in sustainable when buying clothes. I don’t buy a lot of it. Instead, I buy quality and when I can, I purchase some of these on second-hand sites like Poshmark.
